ALRIGHT EVERYONE!! :D i must apologist for the utter lack of anything from me for the last like years... >.> its been... fun... long story short im only smithing at my normal place like 3 hours every month and its shit... BUT MY MASTER GAVE ME HIS OLD RIVET FORGE and i was able to bang out the basics of this here ax with it and a table vise placed on a stump. (did i mention i had to cut up firewood to cook into charcoal to use this forge? i loved the labor but it sadly was taking too long for m to really get the charcoal hot enough at once to do major work)

now for the real stuff. this ax was a bday gift to my gf who also will post it on DA (not telling you who you lot of creepers you >P). the reason i make her an ax instead of being normal and buying her a necklace or earrings is cause we found this RR Spike one beautiful day while walking through a park together. I seem to have an obsession for collecting more metal than ill ever need and told her, if you choose one of these spikes on the ground, ill make you something. i already had about 100 lbs of RR Spikes one the floor of my garage but i didnt care. i got the idea of making an ax like the iron war ax of skyrim but i didnt like the handle, so i did something like the orcish war ax for the handle. for any non gamers, i wanted a handle that had a curve. i finished the ax head 2 months or so before her bday and i got to work with the handle. i took a log from a 300 year old maple or oak (no one could figure which) and i found this beautiful section of curly grain and burl. i wanted this to bee perfect so i took the extra hours to make sure every cut to turn this 20 lb log into a usable piece of stock was straight and true. it took a hellovalot longer than i expected but this piece id be willing to use as the piece i show people when i say im a blacksmith.

Very interesting design, the curves of the blade and the handle really work well together. Looks very comfortable, makes my hand itch to grab it. I like how you've presented it, photographed amidst the wood rings of the felled tree. Enjoy that new forge and keep up the great work.
